(ABC 6 NEWS) – Every year the owners of TnG Plumbing remodel someone’s bathroom for free as a way to give back to the community.

Two years ago, Gina Grundmeier and her husband selected Katherine Ryks’ mother Masha for a free bathroom remodel. This was part of their own Pay it Forward campaign.

“She just feels from the heart, she knows deeply how things are and how hard it was for us to lose two children from suicide,” said Marsha Wilde.

“She gave my parents back their happiness they needed after losing my brother and my sister to suicide,” said Katherine Ryks.

Gina’s love and support is why Ryks nominated her for the “ABC 6 News Home Federal” Pay It Forward Campaign which includes a $600 prize.

Ryks and Wilde surprised Gina with the money at her home in Dexter, MN.

“I nominated you for the Pay It Forward and you won,” said Ryks. “That is so awesome, thank you,” added Grundmeier.

“You won’t find a better soul food then to be able to give something to someone who needs it, whether it’s physically, mentally, spiritually,” said Grundmeier.

“I know that she will take this money and she will give that hope that she gave my family to another family,” added Ryks.

Grundmeier says she will use the money to support an upcoming Pay It Forward remodel in the spring.
