“I think she is very deserving…because she has devoted a lot of her life to helping others…particularly people with disabilities,” Sue said.

Cindy Rigotti is the creator and owner of the newly opened shop “The Yellow Monkey” in Rochester.

The shop sells re-purposed furniture, home goods, and accessories.

What makes it extra special is that it hires young adults with disabilities, allowing them to work and build new skills.

Cindy said the $600 will help her pay the rent and utilities at The Yellow Monkey.

“They all bring something to the table and they’re just wonderful. They have so much to offer and they just need an opportunity to do it,” Cindy said.

“She respects us. She says nice things to us, and nice things about us,” said August Williams, a volunteer at The Yellow Monkey.

The shop accepts donations
