Olmsted County Inmate Faces Assault Charge for Punching Deputy

(ABC 6 News) - An inmate at the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center is facing a felony Fourth Degree Assault charge after he allegedly punched a deputy in the face. 

The incident happened on February 26th, 2018. According to the Olmsted Sheriff’s Office, Majed Ijong asked a deputy for a pillow before becoming angry that the deputy was trying to “talk through the intercom at the same time”. When the deputy entered the day room with the pillow, Ijong allegedly punched him in the mouth. The deputy was able to isolate Ijong and call for back up.

The 56-year-old deputy received 6 stitches; 4 outside his mouth and 2 on the inside. 

Ijong was arrested on November 25, 2017, in California for allegedly molesting a 4-year-old girl. The Stewartville man is also facing 2 counts of First Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct with a person under 13 and 2 counts of Second Degree Criminal Sexual Conduct with a victim under 13.
