New Hayfield Park With Familiar Play Equipment

July 16, 2017 07:07 PM

(ABC 6 News) -- On Saturday, the city of Hayfield got a new recreational space. The Rouhoff Memorial Park now has a playground. It's located along Highway 30 next to the baseball field. At the dedication ceremony, city officials expressed their gratitude to the Rouhoff family for donating the playground. The playground originally sat on the former Brownsdale Elementary School property.

Chief Paul O’Brien of the Hayfield Fire Department told ABC 6 News he is excited for the addition because it is going to keep the kids in the community safe, “The safety of our kids. The kids that live on this side of the highway now don’t have to cross the highway to go to the other playground…and that’s the hugest thing. It’s keeping our kids in our town and keeping them safe and out of trouble. That’s our number one goal because the kids are our future. We hope they come back here and want to live here and keep on living on.”
