(ABC 6 News)- The Federal Communication Commission repealed the Obama-era net neutrality rules Thursday morning.
Net neutrality was established to guarantee people equal use of the Internet.
The repeal of net neutrality now grants more power to broadband companies that can potentially reshape American's online experiences.
ABC 6 Betsy Singer spoke with Wade Beaver, President of Mobile at Newscycle Solutions to break down of what this will mean for the Internet universe.
Beaver said, "They now have the ability to throttle content that may not be their own source."
By giving broadband companies more power, they can choose and restrict what content can be available to consumers. The new power could mean a higher payment.
