(ABC 6 News)-- In response to the false missile attack alert, Mark Zuckerberg made the announcement to change Facebook's news feed algorithm. He wants the platform to be more meaningful, and less cluttered with fake news and viral quizzes.
Zuckerberg used the mistake of the alert that amassed throughout different social media platforms and made it a personal goal to change how Facebook is seen by its users.
The refresh of the news feed algorithm will de-prioritize content shared by media and businesses and instead, show you more that is shared by your friends and family. It is switching to less sponsored content, but this could affect the business who depend and built its brand on the platform.
Chris Wiser is the CEO and Founder of Wiser Agency, where it specializes in Facebook ads as well as helping other businesses make a well-thought-out advertising strategy.
Wiser said, "The chances of viewers seeing your stuff are going to be reduced."
While the algorithm is supposed to reduce "clickbait" type posts to promote more meaningful conversations, this could reduce the market value of Facebook as businesses that are invested in the company will get less exposure.
