Looking at the Extremes

Looking at the Extremes

March 22, 2018 10:38 PM

There's so much that goes into a snowfall forecast.  We give a range, that's the most likely area we expect snowfall to end up in.  However, when you take in every single piece of data, there's usually some that shows the extremes, both low and high.

That's a look at what I'm showing you here.   In the middle I have the most likely snowfall range that is expected.  On the edges, there's the extremes.  These are unlikely, but helps give a good indication of the worst or best case scenarios.

Taking it all in, you can see that it is extremely unlikely that this storm deviates its course and completely misses the area.  There's also the slimmest of margins we exceed our expectations by several inches, but again, this is unlikely.
