(ABC 6 News) -- A 5-year-old little boy has been reunited with his beloved teddy bear thanks to the power of social media and the kindness of strangers.
Aiden Remme was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2015 at the age of 3. Aiden’s Mom Tracy tells ABC 6 News that Teddy was there the day Aiden was diagnosed, and has been there with him ever since.
It was this past Friday at his last visit to Mayo Clinic for his 60th round of chemotherapy, the teddy bear somehow got left behind.
His mother Tracy posted a message on Facebook asking for helping finding the bear, and it wasn’t long before over 1,000 people shared it. Mayo Clinic employees and people around Rochester started volunteering to search, and soon after the bear was found in Saint Mary’s Chapel.
Tracy says Aiden is excited to see his Teddy bear again, but had a theory of what Teddy was doing while he was away.
“To find out he was lost in the church of all places is a pretty big deal, because every time we go up there (Rochester), Aiden insists that we have to go to the chapel and we have to sit there…and he likes to pray…he will just sit there for hours because that’s where he feels comfortable at….Once he found out that Ted was found there, his answer turned to ‘Ted was there because Ted was praying for Aiden to get better’. And that’s why he was left at the Church,” Tracy said.
Teddy was given a police "escort" back to Brewester to be reunited with Aiden on Wednesday.
