The Race for Minnesota's Governor Loses a Running Candidate

March 12, 2018 11:13 PM

(ABC 6 News)--DFL Representative, Tina Liebling, is dropping out of the race to become the next Minnesota Governor.

The Rochester lawmaker made the announcement on Monday. Liebling placed fifth out of six Democrats in the February caucuses.

According to Liebling, her support was building but it was clear she cannot win the Party's endorsement.

"I think it's very, very important to elect a DFL Governor. I also think it is very important to have a DFL Majority Legislature so that we can actually move things forward. So that is what I will be working for,” said Liebling.

She says she will run for re-election in the Minnesota House of Representatives.
