(ABC 6 News) -- Police say 23-year-old Travers McDaniel stole a police car, which led law enforcement to set up a perimeter near Slatterly Park.
Rochester Police tell ABC 6 a K9 officer eventually found the suspect and bit him "in multiple areas."
The initial call came in around 10:30 Tuesday night of a suspicious vehicle parked in the middle of a southeast Rochester road.
Police say that's when 23-year-old Travers McDaniel of Rochester allegedly stole a Rochester police squad car.
"When somebody gets inside of your squad and rolls off with it, with all of your tools and weaponry inside your car, that's a serious incident," said Rochester Police Sergeant John Mitchell.
"Yeah that was crazy," added Matthew Adams.
Adams tells us he saw the suspect in the squad car speed through his neighborhood. It was then right after he pointed an officer in the right direction of the suspect.
"There's a lot of people and a lot of kids. This is something you see on Cops Reloaded, this is Rochester, Minnesota not Las Vegas. When something goes down you have to point a finger and say, 'he went that way,'" said Adams.
Police say McDaniel smelled of alcohol. He was taken to Mayo Clinic Hospital - Saint Marys Campus to be treated.
Police say charges are likely to be filed.
