(KSTP) -- Klobuchar's office confirmed the senator planned to sponsor the bill.

"Sen. Klobuchar spoke with Abby this morning. They had a good conversation, and Sen. Klobuchar told Abby that she will be sponsoring the bill," Ben Hill, Klobuchar's state director, said.

Last month, Honold stood side-by-side with Franken at a press conference announcing the bill. However, after the allegations came out, Honold said she would like someone else to help champion the bill.

"I don't want this bill, which could help so many people, to be associated with this kind of behavior," Honold said in a previous interview with KSTP.

In her tweet, Honold said she was appreciative of the support from Franken's office.

The bill is designed to provide funding for training first responders on ways of interviewing victims who have been traumatized.
