A Union Pacific dispatcher called the sheriff's office around 6:30 p.m. after train employees thought they hit a child near the intersection of 8th and Walnut Streets. The child is described as wearing a blue top, red shorts and Crocs.

Deputies and the Iowa State Patrol found footprints near the railroad tracks but no child was located.

The sheriff's office said they're pretty sure no one was injured, but anyone with information should call dispatch at 641-324-2481.
