Human Trafficking Victim Speaks Out About Her Survival

(ABC 6 News )- On Jan. 16, Olmsted County Commissioners proclaimed January Human Trafficking Awareness Month.

In the last year, More than 4,400 trafficking cases have been reported in the country.

At least 37 of those were in Minnesota.

Lindsay Arf is a local Survivor, More than 10 years ago she fell into a life that led to the sex trade.

While telling her story is important it’s also a challenge that brings back dark memories.

She was a victim of her traffickers until her arrest in Olmsted County in 2016.  

While arrested she was visited by Laura Sutherland, with the Olmsted County Victim Services. Sutherland gave Arf gave many resources to get back on her feet.

"We’re asking someone to share, that part of their life that was the most traumatic part of your life to the public and that takes great courage,” said Sutherland.

Now, 2 years later she can continue to live the life she's always wanted.

"It’s been wonderful, it’s like climbing a mountain, every day is better than the last,” said Arf.

 Arf advocates for other victims around Minnesota and hopes to continue.
