(ABC 6 news)- A highway considered "dangerous" and "deadly" raise concerns on when there would be improvements made. Highway 14 is still in the works for improvement. The problem is there is no funding allocated to the expansion project.
This highway that is not among the seven highway projects Minnesota Department of Transportation is planning work on. ABC 6 Betsy Singer asked if there would be future plans for the deadly highway.
Kevin Gutkneckt, MnDot Communications Director, said, "Right now, I don't think there are any plans in the regular program to do significant work on Highway 14. We do have a quarters commerce program coming soon, and perhaps some funding can be made available through that."
He also said while MnDot is aware of the highway's needs for improvements, however, expansion projects have to take a back seat to maintenance needed on roadways and bridges.
One of the projects underway is the improving Highway 56 by providing a bypass lane for southbound traffic, and a right turn lane for better access to Con-Tech Manufacturing.
