Hoping to Raise Thousands for Transplant House

(ABC 6 News) -- The 19th floor of the Mayo Building was a little busier than usual.

Mayo Clinic staff put together a craft fair, silent auction and bake sale for the Gift of Life Transplant House.

Last year, about $4,500 was raised. Organizers are hoping to reach $5,000 this year … which shouldn't be hard, considering community and business donations for the silent auction almost doubled from last year.

“Gift of Life Transplant House provides a home-like atmosphere for transplant patients and their caregivers who are going through probably one of the most difficult journeys of their entire life," says Executive Director, Mary Wilder.

This the third year staff have put on the fundraiser.
