(ABC 6 News)-The flu season is hitting hard and concerns are rising in Olmsted County

According to health officials at Olmsted Medical Center, it has seen 56 cases of the flu so far and over 500 cases since Dec 1st, most of them children.

Kasey Trageser is an RN at Olmsted Medical Center.

She said as of now signs are pointing to a major surge in cases in the coming weeks.

“I really think that this is starting to, unfortunately, be on the rise, luckily we haven’t had any pediatric deaths in Minnesota this year and I’m hoping that we can sustain that,” said Trageser.

Trageser urges people to get their flu shot, wash their hands, and stay home if you are sick to avoid getting sick and passing it on.
