(ABC 6 News) -- Financial experts are warning that volatility in the stock market is not over.
On Monday, a historic plunge in the markets caught some investors off guard.
However, Mark Williamson, a local financial advisor, said it should not come as a surprise since it has been more than two years since there was a correction in the markets.
He also said Wednesday's announcement of Congress closing in on a two-year budget deal should not have a negative impact.
"In the grand scheme of things our government’s important in the world; our place in the world is still very highly placed in the world. But it's a very large financial world and to the degree that what happens here completely dominates the markets isn't really a fair characterization,” Williamson said.
Williamson also said instead of looking at volatility in a negative way, investors should look at ways of taking advantage of it.
