(ABC 6 News) -- The American flag has always represented much more than a piece of cloth displaying a design of red, white and blue.
There is a place in Hayfield, Minnesota where that couldn’t be truer. A place where U.S. flags are marked with the name tags honoring someone special.
Veterans, city council members, and people from the Hayfield community worked together to add more flags.
Marcia Bangum, co-chair of the event told ABC 6 News the event has continued as a tradition for a simple reason, "It’s the love of our nation. The love of our flag. I get pretty emotional. We just have so many loved ones and we want to remember them. And, all of those veterans who have paid that ultimate sacrifice with their lives to keep us free and be able to have programs like this."
