(ABC 6 News) – Police are searching for a man with a lengthy court record, who is facing potential charges for allegedly assaulting a woman with a weapon in Rochester.

Around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, police received a report that a man was threatening a woman with a weapon at an apartment on the apartments on the 4400 block of Stoneview Place SE.

Police say Ramon Ruiz Jr. had followed a woman he knew into a parking garage of the apartment. While in the garage he allegedly got out of his car and started banging on her car window with a knife.

Police say the woman texted a co-worker who showed up with another person. When they arrived, they told Ruiz they had called the police and that he needed to leave.

Ruiz then went to his car and allegedly took out a revolver and started waving it around as he threatened to quote “shoot up the place, “police said.

The woman's co-worker then opened the garage door and Ruiz was able to drive away.

Police say he could be facing charges that include 2nd Degree Assault with a Weapon and Terrorist Threats.

Police say his last known address is in Eyota, and are asking anyone with information on this case to give them a call.
