Austin Woman Facing Charges After Allegedly Biting Jail Deputy

(ABC 6 News) - An Austin woman is facing charges after allegedly biting, punching and scratching a Mower County Jail Deputy.

According to the criminal complaint, around 5:22 a.m. on Thursday officers with the Austin Police Department responded to a disturbance on the 1100 block of 6th Ave. NW.  When they arrived they found 37-year-old Anna Drexel in the front yard yelling.

Police noted that Drexel appeared to be intoxicated and that she had allegedly assaulted a person inside the home and broken several items.

Drexel was taken to jail where she refused to take a preliminary breath test and began arguing with detention deputies. 

According to the complaint, Drexel then assaulted a jail deputy, biting her on the thigh, scratching her on the neck, chest and arms and punching her in the face.

Drexel is facing a felony charge of 4th-degree assault on a correctional employee along with a second misdemeanor assault charge.
