It's something many look forward to and for Bob Rosel, the day has finally come, "Well it's a pretty exciting day as it is I think for anybody who's about to retire on their last day; it has mixed emotions."

Rosel says above all else, he's excited for what's to come, "I’ll be able to spend more time doing some of the other things I like, like fishing and golf and items like that. I also plan on being involved in the community I have up to now and I don't think that's going to stop anytime soon."

Austin Post Office Manager, Xavier Sogoyou says "It’s really heart breaking to see him go. He cares about people around him, that's really one thing that's going to be hard on me to move forward."  Sogoyou adds he doesn't just think of Rosel as an amazing worker, but he also considers him family.

There are things Rosel says he'll miss when he looks back, "The people, both the customers and my coworkers, that's the part I’m going to miss the most.".

He and his wife Madonna were recipients in our most recent Pay It Forward campaign.  They hold a toy drive every year to keep their son's memory alive.  To watch that story click here
