Austin Police Investigating a Pair of Home Burglaries

(ABC 6 News) - Police are investigating a pair of burglaries in SE Austin that they said could be related.

According to the Austin Police Department, around 5 p.m. on Monday police were called to the 500 block of 7th Ave. SE for a reported burglary.

The homeowner told police that someone had entered the unlocked home sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. and took several items including an air compressor, nail gun, jewelry and cash, a total estimated value of around $1,000.

A neighbor told police that she saw two young men leaving the house and when she asked what they were doing they said their cousins lived in the house and they were borrowing some items.

Around 6:15 p.m. police received another report of a burglary this time at a home on the 700 block of 6th Ave. SE.

The homeowner told police someone had entered the home sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. through a window that doesn't lock properly and took a laptop, a video game system, a computer tablet, jewelry, two pairs of athletic shoes and cash, a total estimated value of $3,300.
