September 25, 2017 07:12 PM

(ABC 6 NEWS) - It’s YOUR chance to help choose the state’s best.
"We think all around it's the best Minnesota town" said Nancy Schnable at Discover Austin.
It’s a tall order,  but the list has been narrowed to ten, and Austin is one of them,
It’s a search for the town that most embodies the spirit of Minnesota.
When Minnesota Monthly magazine launched it's first-ever search for the best Minnesota town, 31 communities nominated themselves.
"They were big towns, small towns, very large towns, and they went through the panelists, and the top ten  were chosen” said Discover Austin’s Nancy Schnable.
The best town will be chosen by a panel of notable Minnesotans ... and *you*.
"So we need the community, their families, their friends to vote for the best Minnesota town" Nancy Schnable said.
So what makes Austin one of Minnesota's best towns? That depends on who you ask … and we did.
"From my perspective i think the schools” said the Austin Public Schools’ Amy Baskin. “We have some tremendous programming from cradle to career.”
“I think one of my favorite parts about living in Austin is the incredible opportunities in the fine arts” said Austin Aspires Jennifer Lawhead.
“It's very collaborative” said Vision 2020 Director Greg Siems. “There are all sorts of volunteers and organizations engaged in making the community a better place.”
“It’s a community where a lot of people are very interested in having this be the best place it can be the most livable place, the most fun place to be” said the Austin YMCA’s Tedd Maxfield.
“I would say our strength is our people, yes" added Discover Austin’s Nancy Schnable.
The winner will be featured in an upcoming issue of Minnesota Monthly, receive a media campaign ... and have a party thrown in its honor.
You can vote on-line through October 13th.
