(ABC 6 News) -- A woman reported a man attempting to open up multiple garage doors on the 1900 block of 24th Street NW in Rochester Wednesday morning according to Rochester Police.

Police say they showed up to the neighborhood and verified that no one entered any of the garages, but also realized they were a few blocks away from the home of who they considered to be a prolific burglar, 34-year-old, Sean Jacobson.

Officers went to Jacobson’s home where they interviewed him about the potential thefts. According to authorities, he admitted to the attempted break-ins but denied another allegation of theft in the area reported Tuesday.

Police believe Jacobson was involved in a theft at a woman’s home on the 2400 block of 25th street NW as well. The homeowner reported $1,700 worth of coins, collectibles and currency were stolen. She believes it could have happened anytime between Oct. 1 and Dec. 20.

Authorities also say Jacobson was seen gambling last week with a large amount of cash.

He was arrested Wednesday morning and is currently in custody for attempted burglary in the second degree.
