(ABC 6 NEWS) - It was just before 11:30 Friday night when the quiet of Gene Avenue in Albert Lea was shattered by gunshots.
Today, police are asking for YOUR help in their investigation.
"Officers arrived in the area and they found several spent shell casings on the ground and a vehicle that had damage," said Abert Lea Police Lt. Darren Hanson.
The shooting occurred in the 2300 block of Gene.
“You're always afraid if something happens, cause we've got little grandkids that come over all the time, too, you don't want to catch a stray bullet while you're watching TV or something," said Steve Johnson, who lives in the neighborhood.
“There's a guy in the neighborhood who shoots fireworks around so we just thought it was fireworks and they're kind of quiet, but then it had a different sound to it like a bang bang bang sound to it, but it didn't sound like a firecracker, so they'd have to do three in a row fast."
“Based on the limited witness statements we have it sounds like it was a targeted event, targeted at this vehicle. there were no injuries reported, and the only damage found at the scene was to that individual vehicle" Lt. Darren Hanson said.
“There's been a lot of trouble down at the trailer court,” Steve Johnson said, gesturing down the street. “Police are down there all the time. There have been a few shots."
“We're still working on information and trying to locate other witnesses" Lt. Darren Hanson said. “The public can be a great help. if anyone happened to be in the area or hear someone talking about this that knows more information than you think they should, give us a call, let us know what you saw or what you hear people talking about.
At this time, no arrests have been made.
