Albert Lea Residents Continue to Take Action on Mayo Clinic Consolidation

July 16, 2017 11:53 PM

(ABC 6 News) -- On Sunday, Albert Lea residents continued to take action, worried about how the Mayo Clinic consolidation might affect their community. A meeting was held by members of the Facebook group Albert Lea -- Save our Hospital to make plans about how they can work together in urging city officials to find a way to keep a local urgent care facility.

The gathering took place at the American Legion on Broadway where some members expressed their concerns and said that this is a matter of life and death for some, "We have 65,000 citizens in this county. They want to take our ICU and our major surgeries out of Albert Lea and transport them to Austin. Any mother wants to know that if that little guy is out there on the football field or the baseball field that if he gets hit in the head then there is immediate care available. It would be devastating for us citizens."
