(ABC 6 News) -- At a time when school is right around the corner, a local business is taking it upon itself to make sure some students don't go without school supplies.

This Saturday, Metro PCS located at 3918 E Frontage Rd Hwy 52 in Rochester is giving away backpacks full of school supplies from folders, to pens and pencils, to rulers.

200 backpacks will be distributed and it will be first come first serve.

Jim Case, the owner of the store says people do start lining up about an hour beforehand so get there early if you want one.

“Everybody seems very appreciative of, they all come in. They get some ice cream with the event. They get their free school supplies. No purchase necessary. It's just; it's just really just a community event so. We're just here for them," said Case.

The event will start at noon and Metro PCS is asking for the child to be present in order to get the backpacks.

If you don't happen to get one, they will be holding other events at their stores in Faribault, Owatonna and Albert Lea.
