(ABC 6 News) -- It's been an important part of the Austin business community for years, but Bellisio Foods is about to close its doors.

“They said they lost some major contracts that caused them to move operations to their Ohio and California facilities," Austin City Administrator Craig Clark said.

Bellisio bought the facility on North Main Street from Austin Packaging Company in 2013. They plan to close it April 9, which will result in employees losing their job.

"Officially they told us about 105, they also have part-time employees there as well," Clark said. “We're working with the Department of Employment and Economic Development that's bringing down a rapid response team to assist the employees in finding and getting  some retraining if necessary or otherwise being able to find new employment."

The Austin facility manufactures frozen food products for retail, restaurant and food service companies. Bellisio is based in Minneapolis.

"We're certainly there to help them try to transition [the building],”  Clark said. “We've had the new flood levee put in there so that changes the marketability of the property. Hopefully, it proves it in that regard."
