State Agencies Join Growing List to Attend Meeting over Mayo Clinic's Consolidation Plan

August 18, 2017 11:24 PM

(ABC 6 News) -- We've learned three more state agencies will be involved in the meeting on Mayo Clinic's consolidation.

As we reported, Attorney General Lori Swanson will meet with stakeholders in Albert Lea on Monday. Her office tells ABC 6 she hopes to learn more about the concerns over moving some inpatient services from Albert Lea to Austin.  However, they can only view it from a standpoint of whether any laws are being broken.

Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Dr. Ed Ehlinger and Minnesota Human Services Deputy Commissioner Chuck Johnson announced Friday they will also be attending Monday's meeting.   The Commerce Department confirms a representative will be in attendance as well.

This follows the announcement by Mayo Clinic to consolidate services citing staffing shortages and rising costs.
