(ABC 6 News) -- Delta Airlines began non-stop service to Detroit and Atlanta Tuesday morning.

The first Rochester to Detroit left the airport at 6:30 a.m., while the first flight to Atlanta departed at 2:30 p.m.

The expanded service comes less than six months after Allegiant announced it was ending service to Rochester for a second time.

With connections to the three largest hubs in the Delta network -- Minneapolis, Detroit and Atlanta -- airport officials hope Rochester will attract more global visitors.
