Two Rochester Men Arrested for Allegedly Scrapping Metal

(ABC 6 News) - Two Rochester men were arrested Monday night after police say, they were caught stealing copper out of an abandoned property.

The incident allegedly happened on the 400 block of 8 ½ Avenue NW. Someone called police after they say they saw two people enter the building with flashlights. Police surrounded the building and say two men came running outside when an ambulance drove by with its lights and sirens on.

Both men were arrested. Police say the found a 5-gallon bucket filled with cut up copper pipe and cutting tools. A water softener had also been damaged leaving water all over the basement.

Eric Hoerner II and David Brooks, both of Rochester, now face 3rd-degree burglary charges.
