(ABC 6 News) -- For the third year, organizers have turned Austin's downtown power plant into a festival of art.
Kids had a chance to paint not on paper, but on a car Sunday at the Austin Artworks Festival.
The two-day event showcases artists from all around Southeast Minnesota with free crafts, music, and art demonstrations. It takes 100 volunteers to help run the event, with 30 people planning throughout the year. 2,500 people attended Saturday.
"It's been a great way to show people that you don't have to think of art as a bad word or something high and lofty that it's accessible to everyone and it's just a way to get people to connect and come together," said Jennie Knoebel, with the Austin Area Commission for the Arts.
Organizers say they're taking ideas and suggestions from community members so the festival can continue to grow and improve for years to come.
