Charges Filed After Austin Bar Fight

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- An Albert Lea man faces charges after a fight that began when another man cut in line to use the restroom at an Austin bar.

Witnesses told police that a 28-year-old Austin man stepped in front of the 26-year-old Albert Lea man to use the men’s room at Mickey’s Bar in downtown Austin around 12:30 Thursday morning.

A fight began in the bathroom and spilled out onto the sidewalk in front of the bar, across the street from the Mower County law Enforcement Center.

The two men were still fighting when police arrived, and when they ignored orders to stop fighting they were both maced.

The Austin man suffered a facial fracture and had his two front teeth knocked out.

Police found the teeth on the bathroom floor.

He was taken to Mayo Clinic health System in Austin for treatment of his injuries.

The Albert Lea man was arrested for third-degree assault.
