(ABC 6 News) -- More workers with disabilities may find jobs with Minnesota under a new executive order from Governor Mark Dayton. In 2013, 3.2 percent of the state’s employees were people with disabilities.

On August 4th, Governor Dayton issued an executive order directing state agencies to hire more people with disabilities.

“We've slipped in the state government in the percentage of our employees who are people with disabilities,” said Governor Dayton. “There's some companies that have done a remarkable job of hiring people with disabilities.”

One of those businesses is PossAbilities.

“Our mission is to create opportunities for children and adults with disabilities to contribute and also to connect with the community,” said Kenn Roehl.

Karen Haw has been working for PossAbilities for the past five years. She works full-time and helps out with jobs in the community.

“I love possibilities, I love my job,” said Haw.

Roehl believes the Governor’s executive order will be a benefit to people involved with PossAbilities.

“We will work very hard to make sure we’re able to take advantage of what this means for additional employment,” said Roehl.

With 60 different employers hiring around 300 people with disabilities, Roehl says the possibilities are endless.

“There is no limit to what people with disabilities can offer. They are extremely talented. They are reliable. They have great attitude. They make the best employees, and I say that with a full heart and full knowledge,” said Roehl.

Governor Dayton’s executive order also mandates training for some state workers for recruiting employees with disabilities. Governor Dayton hopes the new rules will double the number of employees with disabilities hired by the state by 2018.
