(ABC 6 News) -- A utility accident in Mower County sent one worker to the hospital on Friday.
Shortly after 7 a.m. Friday morning, authorities in Mower County received a report of an accident involving a crane just south of Grand Meadow.
Authorities say the crane tipped over and the cabin was crushed.
The operator was able to get out, but was airlifted to Rochester with serious injuries.
On Friday afternoon, he was believed to be in stable condition.
The crew was working on a wind turbine owned by NextEra Energy Resources, but the injured crane operator was an employee of Dawes Rigging and Crane Rental out of Milwaukee.
Dawes company officials confirmed the crew was doing routine repair work on the turbine and said they have no idea how the incident happened.
Workers at the scene said the crane had a boom of about 300-320 feet, but they said there was not a load on it at the time it tipped over.
A light wind prevailed throughout the day, but no large gusts were reported.
Investigators are looking into the matter and consider it an open investigation.
