(ABC 6 News) -- A deadly intersection in Olmsted County is another step closer to becoming safer.
The intersection of highways 14 and 42 near Eyota will turn into a roundabout next spring.
A public meeting was held in Eyota Monday to show community members what to expect once construction starts. That stretch of road will be completely closed down for a few months next summer, meaning a detour from the north will go straight through town. Those from the south will have to take County Road 9 around the work area.
“It will be a lot more traffic and we'll have to make sure that we figure out ways to make sure that traffic is moving at a slower, safe speed. So I think we're going to investigate some ways to do that before hand,” said Eyota Mayor, Tyrel Clark.
We’re told construction will start next May and be done in time for Eyota Days in July.
