(ABC 6 News) -- Residents of Rochester have another place to drop off old stuff, like couches, appliances, and furniture.

After nine years, the city once again has a Habitat for Humanity ReStore.

The grand opening was today. The 12,000 square foot place is donation center with lots of supplies, tools and furniture.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores take unwanted items from the local area and put them up for sale to avoid dumping it into a landfill.

According to Abigail Davis, Rochester's ReStore Manager, they're expecting to keep tons of materials from the landfills, "so the Winona re-store has been around for a while and they've done about 2,000 tons of useable materials saved from the waste stream, we're expecting to be able to divert 195 tons in just the first year alone."

Nine years ago there was Habitat for Humanity ReStore but it closed because the lease was up.
