(ABC 6 News) -- Violence rages on in Gaza, and it's bringing heartbreak to families across the globe and right here at home. One Rochester Rabbi is keeping a very close eye on what's happening overseas. His family lives in that region.
"They're in the line of fire. Actually, the cross hairs," said Rabbi David Green. He is talking about his mother, three sisters, and their families, who live in the center of all this chaos. "They shoot rockets on my sisters and on my mother," said Greene.
More than 600 Palestinians and 29 Israelis have been killed since the violence began two weeks ago. "They're scared about each other’s safety," said Rabbi Greene.
All of his relatives live in or near Jerusalem and Tel Aviv, and with the FAA banning all American flights to area, he waits here in anguish. Even though it’s a high risk area, Rabbi Greene says his faith is why his family remains put.
"They're attacking them in their home, in their homeland, and in their holy land, so there's nowhere to go."
