(ABC 6 News) –  In an effort to help people recover their bicycles after they’ve been stolen or lost, Rochester Police now have a way for you to register your bike for free.

The Rochester Police Department has noticed a spike in bicycle thefts and bicycle recoveries on the Crime E-Alerts lately. In order to make this easier for everyone to get their stolen/lost bike back, you can now give your serial number to the police department. When reporting a lost/stolen bike, the owner can then tell the officer if it is registered with the crime prevention specialist in the investigation unit.

To register, go to and on the home page scroll down to “bicycle registration,” then click on “read more,” and after filling out the form just click on “register now.” Only forms with serial numbers will be accepted.
