(KSTP) -- A 28-year-old man hit a Minnesota State Patrol squad car as he was trying to avoid a PIT maneuver on Highway 5 in St. Paul on Sunday morning.
The incident happened on the highway near Walnut Street at 4:45 a.m.
Sheerah Pommier of St. Paul was driving a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix that was being pursued by law enforcement, according to the state patrol.
At some point, the state patrol attempted a PIT maneuver. Pommier attempted to steer out of it, but instead made a 180-degree turn and hit the squad car.
Pommier was taken to Regions Hospital in St. Paul with a non-life threatening injury.
James Swanson of Oakdale was also involved in the crash, but was not injured.
The St. Paul Police Department assisted the state patrol.
