(ABC 6 News) -- The Minnesota court of appeals has ruled against the family of a man was killed by a train in Winona in 2009.
In October of 2009 Bruce Streng, 51, was walking along the tracks in Winona, and was killed by a Soo Line/CP Rail train.
Two years later, Streng's family filed a wrongful death lawsuit, seeking a monetary settlement.
The court had to look at the relationship between Streng and his relatives to determine how his death impacted their well-being.
The court found Streng was not married and had no children, and he had little interaction with his family for the prior 20 years.
Because there was no negligence allegation made, the court found the railroad company was not liable for any damages.
