(ABC 6 News) -- Police in Rochester have released new information in what was being called a "suspicious death" last week. Authorities now say they now how the man died and the public helped them figure out what happened.

Tuesday Rochester Police released new details in the death of 53-year-old Roger Ingalls and they say it was thanks to witnesses that came forward.

Ingalls was last seen riding his bike home from Glynners Pub more than a week ago.

Police say Ingalls crashed his bike near 14th Street and 7th Avenue NE.

Four witnesses say they saw Ingalls bleeding and offered to help, but he declined saying he lived close by and continued on foot.

It wasn't until Monday the next day that Ingalls was found unresponsive at a Northeast Rochester ball field.

He later died at the hospital from what authorities say was head trauma.  Police say intoxication also played a role.

Last week we spoke with Ingall's neighbor Tyler Truax who talked about the kind of man Ingalls was.

"If we ever needed anything he was always there," says Truax, "he was always very kind to my family."
