Harmony kept the 4th of July festivities going this weekend with an old fashioned kiddie carnival at Selvig Park. The fun was sponsored through a grant from a small community organization.

"Our first project was this playground at Selvig Park here in Harmony," said Vicki Trivon.

The Harmony Area Community Foundation has been in the area since August 2012. After the park, the group helped to purchase laptops for use at the high school, preschool scholarships, a new electric sign for the high school and much, much more.

"Community pride… we strive for projects that enhance the quality of life for residents that life here,” said Trivon.

In total, the foundation has helped fund more than 47,000 projects.

"It does a lot of good for the community and it's just worthwhile,” said Trivon

Today, the Harmony Area Chamber of Commerce put on an old fashioned kiddie carnival. The event was made possible by a grant provided by the foundation.

"I played all the games. I played one of them twice because it's so fun," said Calvin Bergen.

"I think it's awesome, the kids had a great time… It was really good activity for the community," said Sharyl Bergen. "I think this is the first time they've done this in the park and it's been really fun."

The Harmony Area Community Foundation’s goal is to raise $150,000 to fund a different project each year. Funds are raised through individual and business donations.
