(ABC 6 NEWS) -- Thomas Vanek is returning to Minnesota. The free agent winger decided to join fellow Minnesotans Zach Parise and Ryan Suter with the Wild.
The team announced the 3 year deal this afternoon on Twitter.
Vanek, one of the leagues best goal scorers since entering the NHL, is likely taking a pay cut to join the Wild.
"Thomas is an elite offensive talent who showed a strong desire to play in Minnesota,” Wild General Manager Chuck Fletcher said. “We are excited to welcome him to our organization.”
Vanek is the NHL’s eighth-leading goal scorer since 2005-06. In nine seasons, the winger has amassed 277 goals and 279 assists. He’s also third in the League during that span in power play goals (113).
