(ABC 6 News) -- Information is now being made public involving a double murder with possible connections to Rochester. The suspect, Steven Zelich, is a former police officer from Wisconsin.

Thursday, Rochester authorities confirmed the Zelich confessed to involvement in Laura Simonson’s death in Rochester.

Zelich was arrested yesterday in connections with the murders.

On November 22nd, Simonson’s family reported her missing to Farmington Police, but it might have been too late.

"We believe that Laura was killed on the morning of November 3rd," said Capt. John Sherwin from the Rochester Police Department.

On June 5th, two female bodies were found in suitcases in Wisconsin. One of the bodies was identified as Simonson. Police said she may have been killed at the Microtel Inn and Suites in Northwest Rochester.

"There were employees at the hotel who recognized Laura and were in contact with the Farmington Police Department and that steered their investigation at that point," said Sherwin.

According to authorities, Simonson checked-in at the hotel with Zelich, but did not check-out with her.

"Laura and Mr. Zelich were not strangers; they had a previous relationship through the internet," said Sherwin.

Police also confirmed they are investigating Zelich’s involvement in bondage websites.

"This doesn't happen frequently, that someone is killed in one state and taken to another. It's a rare event," said Sherwin.

Zelich is currently being held at Walworth County Jail on two charges of hiding a corpse.

The second victim has been tentatively identified by police. At this time, no name has been released. Authorities believe she was not from Minnesota and was likely killed in another state.

"The goal is to seek justice for the victims and we are close to doing that in this case," said Sherwin.
