MANKATO, Minn. (AP) - A former Minnesota State, Mankato football player who was severely injured during a fight is interacting more with family members, including his 2-week-year-old daughter.

Isaac Kolstad is doing daily standing exercises and is on medication that is less sedating.

A Saturday update on the family's CaringBridge website says he's returning kisses and making consistent eye contact. He also reached with his left hand to touch his two-week-old daughter when she was laid on his chest. The post says he patted her back and touched her hand.

Kolstad suffered a fractured skull and traumatic brain injury in a May 11 fight in downtown Mankato. Prosecutors have charged former University of Minnesota quarterback Philip Nelson of Mankato and Trevor Shelley of St. Peter with assault.
