One of the bigger headaches for homeowners after a flood is water in the basement. And people across the area have been dealing with that overnight, and Tuesday.
Several basement restoration companies we talked to, say their phones have been ringing off the hook. People are calling with one common problem, flooded basements.
We caught up with one local company, Servpro. They say they've had dozens of calls, and have people on a waiting list because they're so backed up.
They say having water in the basement for a long period of time can cause several problems.
"We're covering a lot of sump pump failures taking care of doing a thorough drying process in the house. And making sure there's no mold or bacteria present in the future due to the water damage," said Jason Jerde, with Servpro.
A lot of these companies do have a waiting list. But with more rain on the way, if you do find yourself with flooding in your home, there are a few things you can do.
First, get yourself on a waiting list, so you can get professional help to prevent mold. Also, if you're able to, try to suck up some of the water on your own to help prevent some of that mold.
