(ABC 6 News) -- The old Metrodome turf has officially made its way to Mayo High School.
Mayo received the turf as a donation from the Touchdown Club. Just last week we were at Grafe Auction in Spring Valley prior to the turf arriving at the high school. Now crews are just getting started on construction at Mayo, where students can't wait to play not only turf but Metrodome turf.
“All the programs that get a chance to use it obviously are extremely excited and it's going to be a real special fall when we get a chance to open it up,” said Jeff Whitney, Activities Director for Mayo High School.
They plan to have the turf completely installed by August 1st, just in time for football and soccer season.
