(ABC 6 News) – An early morning police chase crossing county lines ended with a fight and a man now custody.
Olmsted County dispatch received a call from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office and Kasson Police notifying them of a pursuit that was heading into Olmsted County. We’re told Dodge County and Kasson Police had either lost sight of the vehicle or called off the pursuit. At that time, an Olmsted County Sheriff’s Deputy was in the area of Highway 14 and County Road 104 and spotted the vehicle.
The vehicle was then seen traveling east on Highway 14, exiting at West Circle Drive. A Rochester Police Officer happened to be near that intersection at the time and watched the vehicle turn west onto 7th Street NW, then onto Country Club Manor. The vehicle was not pursued because it was already traveling at a high rate of speed.
Police say the suspect hit a curb and then left the vehicle on foot. They say he saw an open window at a nearby home and entered the home through that window after popping the screen. A woman inside the home screamed, and a man inside got into a scuffle with the suspect.
At around the same time, Rochester Police set up a perimeter and searched through neighboring yards.
Suddenly, the suspect and a homeowner were seen fighting in the homeowner’s yard. Police say the homeowner had the suspect in a headlock. Police tased the suspect and he’s now in custody.
That suspect has been identified as Randy Rocha. He has yet to be charged, but police say he’ll likely face charges of assault, burglary, possession of methamphetamines, possibly sales of methamphetamines because of the quantity, and fleeing police.
The full report has yet to come out. Police still do not know if the home owner was injured during the brawl. We’ll have more once the full police report is released.
