(ABC 6 News) -- The Rochester Public School board voted unanimously to sell Gage East for a little more than a million dollars.
Center City Housing plans to turn it into a recreational center, and housing for low-income and homeless people. It's been a debated issue recently, with some concerned about the location. School board members say they did the research before deciding.
“We've all sat and rustled with our decisions and our feelings and so forth, but the fact that the people came here in support of it, I am proud that this community is not afraid to come to the school board and air their views pro or not,” said Terry Throndson, Rochester Public School Board Member.
There is still more to happen before the facility is approved for homeless housing. The city council will now consider rezoning the property at its meeting June 2nd.
